Van Items

Fridge

I chose to go for a bigger fridge and a 12v.  My reasoning behind this was almost everything I eat is fresh produce so I wanted the extra space.  The portable fridge aspect is great to me because I could always take it out of the van with me, and it’s less energy that would have to go through my inverter.

Solar

I went with the 400 Watt kit, my reason for the kit was that it had everything I needed to set up my solar.  Now for the 400 watts I know that if one panel has a bit of shade it will not get full use of the panel so my theory was the more panels the better my odds of having enough power, not that my need was extremely high for power.  Also I have the 170″ Sprinter so roof space was not a huge problem.

Maxxair Fan

I bought the Maxxair Deluxe fan because everyone raved about it and also it had a white lid which blends nicely with my van.

Batteries

Honestly these batteries are heavily used within the van community so I went with good old faithful.  One day I hope to switch over to a large lithium battery, but for now this was the battery that my budget afforded me.  I have 2 of them and eventually might add a 3rd if I feel the need.

Fuse Block

This is the most widely used fuse box.  During the build I often followed the mindset of if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Light Switches

I have these for my light switches and they have worked really well.  It’s nice that the dimmer switch is discreet, but it’s so nice to have the dimmer.

Highly recommend the dimmer to reduce the moths flying into your van at night.

Lights

Lights are something you want to make sure you have enough of and that they are not going to pull an immense amount of power from your system.  These also are nice because they’re meant for boats so you know they can withstand the test of driving.

Water containers

I love these Reliance Water containers.

I have the 7 gallon for my drinking water, the original plan was to use it for my sink, but because my sink is so deep it doesn’t fit.

This quickly turned into my perfect drinking water container.

I have 3 of the 5.5 gallon Reliance slim tanks that I use for my sink water.

Honestly these tanks are great because, you can walk them into Walmart or Whole Foods and fill them with water.

The bed

I have the 4″ gel mattress topper and then the 2″ memory foam lavender mattress topper.

Honestly my bed is so comfortable I don’t think I’ve ever had a more comfortable mattress.

Water Pump

My builder found this pump and we decided to give it a try, the nice thing about this pump is you don’t have to install a switch to turn the pump on and off it automatically sense when it needs to turn on.

Cooktop

I went with this because I love to cook and could hardly bear to live without an oven.  I also like the cover on top of the stove because 1. it will hide my mess 2. it gives more counter space.

Battery Isolator

I chose to go with this one because it came with all the necessary wiring and I knew it could handle the power. It’s always a bonus when many people within the community have had success with it.

Workout Items

Running Pack

I got this vest and let me tell you that I absolutely love it.

This vest stays in place when I run and I can pack a fair amount of stuff in it.

This one is good if you don’t mind having a hydration pack on the back.

Water Filter

Whenever I go into the backcountry I bring a water filter.

Unless I’m in the desert where I know that I most certainly will not be crossing any water.

This water filter has a great flow and it’s easy to use.

Resistance Bands

I have these bands for workouts to get in a little bit of strength training.

There is no gym in the places I typically park the van so I bring my own gym.

Safety Device

I DON’T LEAVE WITHOUT THIS.

This is honestly my peace of mind, in both driving and being on trails.

It’s a satellite navigator and communicator. I love that I can send out text messages, check the weather and call for help.
